How Upwork’s Fees Work

Upwork’s fees work like this:

  • $0-$500 in earnings from a client: 20% service fee applied to earnings.
  • $500.01-$10,000 in earnings from a client: 10% service fee.
  • $10,000+ in earnings from a client: 5% service fee.

The more money you spend with one particular freelancer on Upwork over the course of your interaction with them the less you will pay in fees.

  1. calculator is not quite right … for example a $2,500 project is $300 in fees. its 20% of the first $500 then 10% of the next amount after that.

    $300 (.2 * 500 = $100 + .1 * 2000 = 200)

    1. Thanks James, noted, that is what I had asked to be programmed in but I obviously didn’t check it closely enough, I’ll get it updated.
