What Search Engine Does Siri Use?

What search engine does Siri use

As of 2017, Google is the default search engine for Siri.

Google was already the default for the Safari browser at this time and it made sense to have both Siri & Safari using the same search engine.

That said a large part of the reason why Siri uses Google is due to the fact that Google pays Apple a considerable amount of money (allegedly $8-$12 billion a year) to be the default search engine on Apple devices.

How To Change The Search Engine Siri Uses?

There are a couple of simple ways you can change the search engine that Siri uses:

1. Ask Siri To Use A Different Search Engine

The easiest way is to tell Siri which search engine you would like to use when you speak.

For example, you can say “Hey Siri, search Bing for SEO video audits”.

Siri will then use Bing to get the results you need.

Be aware this is not a permanent change, Siri will default back to using Google search unless you explicitly tell it to use a different search engine.

2. Change The Default Search Engine

To change the default search engine that Siri uses follow these steps:

  1. Open your settings.
  2. Scroll to Safari.
  3. Scroll down to the search engine & click it.
  4. Choose your desired search engine.

Now when you use Siri it will use your chosen search engine to perform the search.

The same is also true when you search for anything in the Safari search engine on your phone.
